Thanksgiving, 1998
Lindsay, Janet, David, and Nathan from the "Real World, Seattle," came to SU last night. I paid $5 to see then talk. I was planning on going to a small dinner party after the show, so I had to buy hors d'oeuvres and a bottle of fine spirits, so I was on my way to the Student Choice Market to buy Coke and Tostitos. Outside of the Student Center, I ran into the cast of the "Real World". I was all star struck, and said "Hi... wow... it's you guys..." and they were like "what's up."
Then I noticed Lindsay was shorter than me!
I had to run, so I just left, and got the goods, and brought them back into the Orange Source office, which is in a separate part of the same building the "Real World" show was in. Then I went to get in line for the show, where I ran into some friends. I told them all about what happenned, and I guess I was visibly excited (no, not like that).
So we got into the show, and I sat with Sue (who works with me on the Orange Source) and Thor (who is the VP of University Union, the group that got the cast to come to SU). At one point, Lindsay mentioned how during tryouts, she was going out with this guy who was 6'7", and the "Real World" people loved that, because she was only 5'1". When I heard her height, I started clapping loudly. A few people followed my lead, so to make myself stand out, I threw my hands in the air, and whooped.
Later, I got up to ask a question. I prefaced the question with a remark to Lindsay. "First of all, Lindsay, I'm only 5'5"." to which she replied, "We could get together and have midget babies!" Then I asked my question of the cast ( which is irrelevant), and went back to my seat.
After the show, I told Sue that we had to go get my stuff from the Orange Source office, before we went to dinner (Thor and Sue were going to same dinner party). Our office is right across from the UU office, and Thor told us that the cast was coming down for a reception.
Needless to say, we stuck around. They came down, and I said hi to Lindsay, who was really friendly. A couple people struck up a conversation with her. We found out she was going to Univ. of Michigan. I told her I was at the SU game where we kicked their asses, and that I was a cheerleader (actually, I told her the whole truth of that statement, but I'm not going to print that here. If you know me, you know what I said). We talked a little, and then the cast got pulled away for a few minutes. All the girls were posing for pictures with David (he of the enormous schlong and thick Boston accent). I really wanted proof that I met her, and Sue reminded me that we had a digital camera in our office.
We got the camera, but the battery was low. She said it would work anyway. As the cast was leaving, I asked Lindsay if I could get a picture with her. She said of course, and came into our office, leaving the security guard and her friends. Sue turned on the camera, and Lindsay jumped on me! I guess she's clingy or whatever, but I was pretty excited anyway. Well, she said bye, and that she had to go bartend at 44's. Sue and I hooked up the camera to the Mac, and uploaded the picture, which was blurry, because of the low battery.
And that, my friends, is no sham.
Sorry to everyone about the lateness of this issue. It's been busy. But it's all here, complete with poems by David and Kristine and essays by Dylan and Mike, as well as the new Captain Scurvy piece. Check it all out. Oh, and sorry to all you Space Ghost fans, but you'll have to wait another issue for the release of the latest version of BrakOS, which includes a Kaleidoscope2 scheme. * * *
